At Alpha Chi Omega's 1992 National Convention, delegates voted to adopt the Support of Victims of Domestic Violence as a national altruistic project.
The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation supports educational programs for victims of domestic violence as well as hands-on support at the local community level where personal involvement can make a difference. Grants go to various agencies across the nation providing services to victims as well as to provide the development and implementation of educational programs for members.
Every October, we host our annual Tri-Star week here at Bradley. We spend a week spreading awareness and raising money for the Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria. We host guest speakers, a quesadilla night, and Walk a Mile in her Shoes!
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Every year Alpha Chi Omega hosts Walk a Mile in Her shoes. Volunteers, both men and women, walk a mile in high heels, because as the old saying goes: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." This is a step in starting a dialogue to end rape, sexual assault and gender violence.
